Xbox Live is back after an hours-long outage

Xbox Live has resolved a widespread outage that prevented players from playing online games, downloading games, or using other services for hours. “Users should no longer experience issues signing in to Xbox Live and services” Xbox says in a post on X. “Thanks for your patience, Atom!”

The issues with Xbox Live seem to have started around 2PM ET Downdetector reports At that point it begins to rise. Around 3PM ET, Xbox said “Some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live” and the company has launched an “investigation”.

Meanwhile, its status page Xbox’s account and profile services suffered a major outage. “You may be unable to sign in to your Xbox profile, get disconnected while signed in, or have other related issues,” the notice said. “Features that require login, such as most games, apps and social functionality, are unavailable.”

Around 4:10PM ET, Xbox said Its investigation “took longer than expected” and did not resolve the issue until around 9PM ET.
