Travis Kelce's 2023 ended with a win and his 2024 begins with another one: some quality time with girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The All-Pro tight end had just three catches, but his Kansas City Chiefs defeated the visiting Cincinnati Bengals 25-17 to win their eighth straight AFC West crown.
Afterwards, the couple were whisked away in a golf cart to the players' parking lot, where DailyMail.com cameras caught Kells in his Rolls Royce head-to-head with Swift. While Swift sported a Chiefs varsity jacket emblazoned with her 'Tae-Tae' nickname, Gales looked cozy with a knit cap covering his sweats and shaved head.
And, like him, Kelce is sure to open the door for her New Year's Eve date.
The two are believed to have tied the knot in 2024 at a private party in the Kansas City area with family and friends. Kells' mother Donna was seen in Swift's luxury box earlier in the evening.
Late in the fourth, when Kansas City's Chris Jones sacked Bengals quarterback Jake Browning on Cincinnati's final drive, cameras caught Swift celebrating the impending victory with a young fan.
Kelce was a non-factor for Patrick Mahomes & Co., making just three catches for 16 yards on four targets. He's just a few yards short of his eighth straight 1,000-yard season.
But the win was significant for the 10-6 Chiefs. Kansas City is coming off a miserable 3-8 stretch that not only clinches its eighth straight AFC West crown, but threatens their entire season. Naturally, many have suggested that Swift somehow distracts Kelce and the Chiefs from work, but that didn't happen as Kansas City beat the Bengals 8-8 on Sunday.
Swift reacted to the win with a young fan, sticking her finger in the air and yelling in the boy's face.
As many fans noticed, Swift was wearing a Chiefs jacket with 'Day-Day' embroidered near the pocket – a reference to Kells' rumored nickname for the 34-year-old singer. The Swifties went wild about it on social media, noting that they were happy that she had adopted a fan base nickname for herself.
As it became a familiar sight at Arrowhead, fans brought signs in hopes of getting his attention.
One clever head supporter referred to the romantic pair as 'DNT': 'They're dynamite!'
Another young participant wrote that she was 'only for Taylor'.
Harrison Budkar was the best in the effort as he took 6 for 6.
Patrick Mahomes passed for 245 yards and a touchdown for Kansas City (10-6), which is at least the No. 3 seed and guaranteed at least one home playoff game. Isiah Pacheco rushed 18 times for 130 yards and Rushie Rice had five catches for 127 yards.
The Bengals (8-8), fighting for their own playoff berth, led by 10 early but found themselves trailing 25-17 when Butker made the last of his field goals — a 46-yarder through the air — with 2:59 left. game.
With one last chance, Jake Browning hit Tyler Boyd on fourth down to get into Kansas City territory, but back-to-back sacks by George Karloftis and Chris Jones put the Chiefs up eight on the day and ended the Bengals' comeback hopes. .
Browning finished with 197 yards passing and one touchdown. Joe Mixon ran for 65 yards and had a TD reception.
Budger converted from 54, 43, 27, 24, 48 and 46 yards to account for the game's final 18 points.
While the Bengals and Chiefs have faced nail-biters in the climate in each of the past two AFC Championship games, they tend to play high-stakes games when the weather turns cold. And they're usually accompanied by plenty of trash talk, whether it's from elected officials or — this past week — from players like the Bengals' Ja'Mar Chase.
Hostility usually spills over into the field as well. Midway through the second quarter, Chase and Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Snead got into a heated argument, eventually leading to a team-wide scrum that covered up individual fouls.
The Bengals went up 10-7 when an 8 1/2-minute drive ended with a field goal and a 6 1/2-minute rally that ended with Mixon's touchdown catch. Cincinnati got the ball back when Trey Hendrickson ran around rangy right tackle Vanya Morris, stripped Mahomes from behind and Sam Hubbard pounced on the loose ball.
Throw an interception to Sneed in the end zone to set up Browning's 1-yard TD run.
Budger's first field goal got the Chiefs within 17-10, and Mahomes had a chance to take the lead on their next possession when he found Marquez Valdez-Scandling open. But another dropped pass — Kansas City's NFL-leading 40th this season — forced the Chiefs to settle for a 17-13 field goal at halftime.
As the Chiefs' defense stiffened in the second half, their attack began to show signs of life.
They stuffed the Bengals on fourth-and-1 at the Kansas City 6, then drove 82 yards for Budger's third field goal. After the Bengals were forced to punt, Mahomes hit Rashee Rice 67 yards to set up Budger's chip shot.
