It almost seemed too obvious to bring in Redick for at least one interview. There were some loose declarations of mutual interest, but nothing formal was implemented. With a connection to LeBron James and a certified basketball acumen displayed on their podcast, Redick seemed to check every box of an intriguing candidate for the Lakers.

On Thursday afternoon, Redick was officially named the Lakers’ next head coach.
There’s nothing wrong with keeping your options open, and the Lakers did just that. They always knew they could fall back on Redick and appease their superstar James if their big swing didn’t happen on college basketball’s best coach.
The Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons aren’t serious about Redick. Not as much as the lagers were.
Everyone online thinks Redick is guaranteed to fail. He has no coaching experience, but his basketball knowledge is unquestionable. Even her relationship with James.
In this quest, the Lakers played their hand perfectly. It was a small mistake to publicly swing and miss college basketball’s biggest name, and they recovered exactly how they planned.
If Redick succeeds and pairs well with James in a new contract, this hire looks like genius.
