Deputy Ryan Klingonbrumer is 30 years old.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was shot and killed while sitting in a patrol vehicle in Palmdale on Saturday, his office said.
“At approximately 6 p.m., an LASD Palmdale Paramedic was found in front of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station in medical distress,” the sheriff’s office said. A statement On social media.

Klingonbrummer, who was in uniform, was working a patrol car from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station when a Good Samaritan found him passed out in his vehicle, LA County Sheriff Robert Luna said at a media briefing on Sunday. They immediately informed Palmdale station staff. Klingenbrummer was taken to Antelope Valley Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound, but later died of his injuries, Luna said.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or motive in the case, but Luna said he believes the shooting was targeted.
“Everything is on the table. It could have been our deputy. He represents the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, could have been one of our employees,” Luna said. “We don’t know, everything is on the table.”
Not arrested.
“He ambushed and killed one of our deputies. We need your help to get him off the street,” Luna said.
L.A. County Board of Supervisors Chairman Janice Hahn said the shooting was “senseless and brutal.” X.

Luna at X said Klinkenbrummer is an eight-year veteran of the LASD and third generation.
“Our Vice Chancellor was a devoted family member and beloved community member. He was cowardly shot this evening while working tirelessly to serve our community. Our hearts go out to his family. We cannot fully understand their pain, but we stand with them during this difficult time. Solidarity and support to them. They deserve unwavering compassion and we will do our best to provide them with help and care,” Luna said.
