A New York judge on Friday formally ordered Donald Trump to pay $454 million, including interest, giving the former president a month to post nearly half a billion dollars to appeal a fraud conviction.
Judge Arthur Engoron's signed ruling was published in court documents Friday, a week after finding Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump liable for fraud in a civil suit brought by New York Attorney General Letita James.
Once Trump and the others are sentenced, a 30-day clock begins for them to appeal. During that period Trump will have to put up cash or post bond to cover $355 million plus about $100 million in interest. The sons were each ordered to repay $4 million in ill-gotten gains resulting from the fraud. The judge also barred the Trumps from serving as officers of a New York business for several years.

Representatives for the Trump Organization did not respond to questions about who would run the agency as Trump faces leadership challenges as he campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination between court appearances.
Trump has vowed to appeal.
Trump initially asked for a 30-day delay in the ruling, which would not harm the New York attorney general's office and allow for an orderly process given the “magnitude” of the decision. The judge rejected the request saying they did not explain or justify the reason.
The judge notified both parties in an email Thursday that he was signing a proposed ruling prepared by the New York attorney general's office.
“The proposed judgment accurately reflects the spirit and letter of the February 16 decision and order,” the judge wrote.
