Jimmy Kimmel, everywhere and an ass: Oscars 2023 highlights
Everywhere and everything at once Dominated the 95th Academy Awards Sunday night at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress, becoming the first Asian woman and second woman of color to win the trophy. The film won Best Picture and Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for writer/directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
Brendan Fraser confirmed his comeback with a win for Best Actor Whalewhen Everything everywhere Stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan won Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively.
The night was not without controversy, with criticism aimed at Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with Malala and the painful meeting between model Ashley Graham and “disgusting” Hugh Grant.
Many also felt that Angela Bassett deserved the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The award went to Jamie Lee Curtis instead, prompting what many observers described as Bassett’s “genuine” reaction.
There were plenty of bold looks on the “Champagne” carpet this year, including Rihanna in a T-shirt, trainers and a bucket hat.
